Communication and De-escalation
"If you just communicate, you can get by. But if you communicate skillfully, you can work miracles." Jim Rohn
Many professionals do their job everyday without ever having received formal communication training. Often, the policies that dictate the standards for communication are not substantial and do not provide a system for universal standards of employee conduct, establishing cooperation, and gaining compliance.
There should be no doubt the public has demanded a change in the way professionals, especially government employees, communicate with those they serve.
"Communication and De-escalation" does all of the above. It is the missing piece to many training programs.
This four-hour presentation provides verbal and kinesic tools to safely and effectively accomplish the following: maintain composure, establish rapport, communicate well, establish cooperation, and gain compliance with students, parents, members of the public, peers, and administration.
Additionally, the course provides important insight into understanding crisis, predictability, bias, and body language.
This presentation will educate attendees on an easy to employ, highly effective, universal communication system (The Wolfson Formula). It helps professionals maintain their own behavior in stressful and critical situations, gain compliance from difficult people, and achieve cooperation where they might not have been able to do so otherwise without the training. The "Wolfson Formula" has been tested and used effectively for over ten years in many situations, including: public interactions, crisis, victim interviews, simple negotiations, consensual encounters, investigations, and other “high stakes” situations.
This course has been taught to 1,000s of professionals and is quickly becoming the gold standard in understanding and not only employing communication and de-escalation skills, but keeping situations from becoming escalated. Attendees will leave with a pocket-sized quick reference guide and access to small poster-style reference.
This course is customizable for content and time. This course pairs well with “Understanding Student Behavior and Recognizing Signs of Crisis.”
"Communication and De-escalation" suits public safety professionals, school staff, security personnel, government employees who contact the public on a regular basis, and private employees as well.
This presentation is also appropriate for corporate professionals who have a need to gain cooperation and "compliance" with their clients during high pressure business meetings or negotiations, utilizing the "Wolfson Formula" as a communication system for mission accomplishment, whatever the mission might be.
